Setting

Setting means bending teeth in sequence left-right-straight in relation to the saw body. Setting of gang saws for vertical frame machines is done according to left-right segment in relation to the saw body. A saw teeth must be set symmetrically, otherwise running problems may appear. Setting enhances cutting abilities of a saw and creates an inter-teeth gap which ensures regular and thorough elimination of sawdust from the cut wood rift.
Setting should begin at the height of 1/2 or 2/3 (depending on the kind of saw and the height of edge) of the cutting edge, looking top-to-bottom.

Recommended setting values are measured from the saw body to a side:

 - in the case of band saws:

  • soft raw wood: 0,40 - 0,65 mm
  • hard and/or frozen wood: 0,30 - 0,45 mm

    - in the case of wide band saws for sawmills:
