Chroming

In September 2006 Ro-Ma extended the range of its services by the introduction of chroming. The Company offers chroming of gang saws for vertical frame sawing machines. Gang saws are subject to galvanising in order to harden their surface layer and improve their anti-corrosion properties. Technically, chromed saws feature an enhanced hardness and improved wear resistance. This translates into longer maintenance-free runs before sharpening is necessary. Smoother surface of wood cut is an additional plus. Moreover, the chrome layer decreases adhesion of a saw, resulting in less chips adhering to its working surfaces.adhesion, resulting in less chips being adhering to its working surfaces.

Chrome is a hard, silver-bluish metal featuring melt temperature of 1857°C.
It is resistant to organic acids (as well as to nitrogen acid and hydrosulphuric acid).
Chrome is used as an external layer covering elements made of steel.
Hardness of chrome layers is higher than that of the hardest grades of hardened steel.
