| Sawing |
|
First run of a saw – after using the saw for about 1.5 hour it is recommended to sharpen it in three passages through a sharpener. First passage is the initial one, second is the equalising one, third is the sparking one (it eliminates micro-cracks from the sharpened surface. It is a good practice to hang the saw aside after sharpening for 6-8 hours to let it rest. To avoid the band overheating or excessive wear it is advised to use it for not more than 1-3,5 hours (depending on its type), then to let it rest for about 12 hours and sharpen it. Cooling When high parameters are set while cutting wood, the saw toothing tends to overheat. Accordingly, it is necessary to ensure proper cooling of the saw and, possibly, to adjust its strain, as changes in the saw temperature can affect the value of its stress. In summer water can be used as coolant, while in winter using oil is recommended. |
